Commerce Visit Hinkley Point A Site
Press Release
Bridgwater's recently formed Chamber of Commerce visited Hinkley Point A Site for a tour of the decommissioning power station and a ‘meet the buyer' networking opportunity.
Hinkley Point A is a founder member of the chamber and as one of the largest employers in the area they are able to offer professional guidance to local businesses as well as commitment to support the local supply chain.
The 25 chamber members were able to see the deplanted turbine hall where 11,000 tonnes of scrap metal and 400 tonnes of asbestos was removed plus the empty spaces where buildings and plant once stood. The group were especially excited to see the old control room and its 1950's design.
Vivian Haynes from All World Freight and a member of the chamber commented: "The tour has been absolutely fascinating. It has been an education to see how much is going on at the site."
EnergySolutions, the company that manages Hinkley Point A Site, recently became the first patron of the Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce, offering their support to the local economy.
