Clarke Willmott charity race night raises thousands for charity

Taunton law firm Clarke Willmott has raised over £4,000 for two charities with a night filled with virtual racing.   Staff from Clarke Willmott LLP invited clients, suppliers and other local businesses along to the event at Taunton Racecourse, which included six virtual horse races, followed by an auction and dinner. The Race Night raised around £4,200 through race sponsorship and auctions of each horse, purchases of tables and an auction and raffle. The funds will be split equally between charities Reminiscence Learning and Teenage Cancer Trust.   Kate Gardner, Partner at Clarke Willmott in Taunton, commented: “We are delighted to have raised such a fantastic amount for two extremely worthwhile charities and are very grateful for the support of many other local businesses. The night was a huge success and we are very pleased to have finished our two year partnership with Reminiscence Learning and Teenage Cancer Trust on such a high note.”   Reminiscence Learning is a regional and national charity based in Wellington, Somerset, providing specialist training in dementia and reminiscence.   Teenage Cancer Trust provides support and expert treatment to young people aged 13-24 who have been diagnosed with cancer. Around seven young people within this age bracket are diagnosed every day in the UK.   Emma Green at Reminiscence Learning said: “Thank you so much to the team at Clarke Willmott, all the race sponsors and all who attended the event – what a fantastic evening!  Once again I was truly overwhelmed by the generosity shown and what an amazing total raised. “The funds will be used to ensure the continuation and sustainability of our award winning intergenerational dementia awareness Archie Project that links local primary schools, with care home and sheltered housing schemes to reduce the fear and stigma often associated with dementia and ultimately create more dementia friendly communities.” Charlie Porter from Teenage Cancer Trust said: "I have always loved attending Charity Race Nights but Clarke Willmott's was particularly special. Once again I was blown away by the generosity of all those who attended and we are so grateful for everyone for their support.
