I consider myself to be local even though I wasn’t born here but in Berkshire. My family moved here when I was three, my Mum having fallen in love with Somerset when evacuated here during the war. Apart from a decade spent learning my craft in London, I have lived in Bridgwater ever since. I’ve been involved in radio since 1979 during which time I’ve presented pretty much every show you can think of. I was also one of the original co-founders of Bridgwater’s first full time radio station BCRfm and was the first voice heard on air. My Vinyl Countdown show is currently airing across the UK, as well as stations in Spain, Bosnia, Serbia and the USA, where you can also hear my voice on many commercials. Many people recognise me just from my voice which I guess is a good thing given my chosen profession! These days you can hear me on the breakfast show weekdays from 6am.
Sedgemoor FM launched on 4th April 2016 taking over from a totally different sounding station in Access FM. The station is based in the YMCA building overlooking the canal. Broadcasting 24 hours a day we pride ourselves on being local and putting Bridgwater and the surrounding communities at the heart of all our programmes. We work closely with local businesses, local authorities as well as clubs and charities to give our community a voice. We have a daily lunchtime magazine show which contains lots of local info you don’t get elsewhere (tide times etc) along with a daily guest. Guests have ranged from our MP through to a local family whose house was being used for a film. Our mid-morning show also features a local business each day in the “Sedgemoor Spotlight”. If your business hasn’t been featured yet Nick (the presenter) will come and visit you at a convenient time and talk to you about your business. The chat is then edited for broadcast and you even get to pick a couple of tracks of music too. Best of all it’s a free service that we offer. In addition we have attended around 30 events already this summer providing a pa and musical entertainment to schools, fetes, village days and much more. Almost all of our presenters live in Bridgwater as well giving us a unique advantage over other broadcasters.
