Opening a new business is always very difficult thing to do most of all when new to the area. Linking up with the Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce was the best thing that we could have done. They really helped us get in touch with the right people to help move our business in the right direction.
They helped us with local Gin suppliers, an artist to do a wall mural of Bridgwater, window cleaners, gardeners and many many more as well as helping us start up our community networking at their breakfast meetings.
Vivienne Greenwood and her team have always been at the end of the phone to support in whatever way they can and this really makes all the difference, may our partnership between Holiday Inn Express Bridgwater and Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce long continue and it’s such a valuable one to have.

We first approached Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce (BCoC) around the turn of the year (2019) in an attempt to enhance our networking and marketing opportunities, considering many of our key clients had reduced funding resource due to the current economic uncertainty. It is since this period that we managed to build a new network of clients, mainly tie 1 contracting organisations who are operating in the significantly infrastructure investments being constructed within Bridgwater and surrounding areas.
We have since secured contracts as a subcontractor to tier 1 firms and increased the number of enquiries and opportunities to tender in this sector or works. In this respect, all of the work and events held by BCoC are therefore imperative in developing our future development and training needs.

The Chamber of Commerce provides a forum that enables us to reach local businesses and share updates on the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Scheme. The barrier is an important asset for Bridgwater and is fundamental to continuing business confidence and investment in the area. We will aim to maximise opportunities for local businesses during the construction phase of the barrier. We will achieve this by using technology and manufacturing techniques that could be supplied locally.
We look forward to continuing to work with the Chamber of Commerce on this important project over the next 5 years.

Testimonial – New Leaf Design Supports the Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce Supply the Supplier Project.
I became involved in the Bridgwater Supply the Supplier Project a year ago in March 2018. Within two months I was invited by the Project Manager to speak at a local CITB Event inviting members of the local construction industry to a breakfast meeting. This initial talk led me on a journey into training as a Mental Health First Aider for the Construction Industry and later to become a guardian of the local Building Mental Health Programme.
Vivienne Greenwood, the Project Manager was able to connect me with some local construction companies and I am now working with Willmott Dixon adding to their wellbeing offering to their construction staff. I felt inspired to take this work further and with her support I started a working group in Bridgwater where on 16th May 2019 we will be putting on Somerset’s 1st Mental Health in Construction Conference.
Through the support of the Bridgwater Supply the Supplier Project and The Bridgwater Chamber I have been able to raise the profile of the counselling, coaching and training services we offer to local business and benefit from the indirect business that the building on our doorstep has to offer. I do feel like this is a supply chain where there is a level playing field.

We have attended a few of your functions now, on this occasion I attended with our Operations Director, and we were both encouraged by the content and positive energy at the event.
It’s great to be able to network this way with other local businesses, and we have already seen some encouraging signs of creating new relationships to benefit ourselves and other members of the group.
Congratulations to you and the team on another successful event.

It was a really good morning learning how to work with Willmott Dixon, their projects and commitment to local communities, also Somerset County Council and Bridgwater Chamber. Thanks to all who organised this event and the great speakers.
A big thank you to Bridgwater Chamber for putting on this event. They are really trying to support local businesses by raising their awareness of what’s happening in the local area.
